Chef Salvatore Taccetta started his culinary career at the age of 10 in the kitchen of his grandmother’s restaurant, Giardino di Rosa, located in the Bronx, new york. This is where Sal obtained his true love of food – simple, fresh, quality ingredients combined in spectacular ways. After attending Fordham University Sal chose to follow in the family tradition and became a third generation restaurateur. His first restaurant, Il Giardinetto, was located in the Morris Park section of the Bronx. After 10 successful years, Sal chose to move his family and business to the Hudson Valley. With the support of his wife, Lorraine and five children, Sal opened Ciao Ristorante, located in historic Chatham, NY. After yet another successful endeavor in the restaurant business Sal decided to take on yet another culinary challenge, Executive chef at Hunter mount Ski bowl and The Copper Tree Banquet and Wedding Facility. At this time Chef Sal and his family have decided to return to their ethnic background and re-open Che Figata Italian Bistro down in the historic village of Coxsackie, where he and his family reside. Remember, Italian food is all about the ingredients, it’s not fussy and it’s not fancy it’s just good!
