A Year-Round Place for the Family to Stay and Play
Nestled in Northeast corner of the Great Northern Catskills, Windham is a four-seasons destination with varied activities for our family visitors. The Town of Windham includes an historic main street though Windham itself, and the surrounding hamlets of East Windham, Hensonville, and North Settlement, as well as the hamlets of Maplecrest and Brooksburg in the Catskill Park.
Windham is proud of its wonderful variety of main-street and mountain businesses ranging from specialty shops, exceptional eateries, and lodging to family-owned service providers offering building supplies, cabinets & flooring, and pharmacy.
Spring & Summer Activities
Springtime brings the harvesting of sap from our local maples and the production of some of the finest maple syrup available.
Sports fishing along the Batavia Kill begins April 1st and our great walking and hiking trails attract more outdoor enthusiasts. Windham’s two great golf courses are open to the public, and local stables provide a unique view of our mountain town from horseback.
The walker-friendly Windham Path covers rolling terrain with a gravel surface maintained by the Windham Area Recreation Foundation. Adventure-seeking hikers enjoy a wilder setting in Elm Ridge to the top of Windham Hi Peak or the escarpment maintained by the New York Department of Environmental Conservation. World-class Mountain Biking trails run along Elm Ridge and at the Windham Mountain Resort with bike rentals available at several locations. Our area hosts National and International cross country and downhill Mountain Bike competitions, as well as the Tour of the Catskills mountain bike event.
Summer Festivals & Autumn Foliage
For a true taste of Americana, Windham’s Fourth of July Parade and Autumn Affair on Columbus Day weekend attract visitors from across the area and around the country. Music and arts festivals offer something for everyone. Autumn provides spectacular views of some of the best fall foliage in the Northeast, and makes Windham a destination for hunting a wide range of game.
Winter Activities
Windham Mountain finds the annual return of loyal visitors every winter. Enthusiasts enjoy Alpine and cross-country skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, tubing and skating on the mountain and throughout our town.
